A Man of G-D

Posted by Yona on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, In : Poetry ... Prose

A man of G-D,
he separates himself from the cord
of being a child in the flesh.
Leaving his father and mother
with the promise to honor them,
he joins to his beloved,
his tender vessel,
his other half, and becomes one.

He holds close to his bride,
adorns her with every need,
listens to the desires of her heart.
He protects her with his life,
knowing her worth is far above precious jewels,
and he harbors no bitterness towards her.

As he is commanded,
he lives with her with understanding

A Great Miracle Happened There

Posted by Yona on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, In : Poetry ... Prose

In the silent years, as they have been called,

There was neither quiet nor peace.

As recorded in the book of Maccabees,

We find bravery in a few Jewish priests.

The Greco-Syrians made war,

And plundered the Jewish Temple.

They sacrificed a pig on the altar,

And destroyed everything ornamental.

The Maccabee family rose up;

Father and sons battled for their land.

Outnumbered over the years,

Yet G-d placed victory in their hands.

To cel...

Diff'rent

Posted by Yona on Saturday, November 24, 2012, In : Poetry ... Prose

Surrounded by people, fam’ly and love,

I cherish the blessing of prayers and hugs.

We gather as one, all children of G-d,

But sometimes I feel… so diff’rent inside.

The wellspring of my walk that flows within

Comes from a depth many don’t comprehend.

Often I pause and ponder where I am,

Obeying His call, a journey with Him.

I can’t resist as His manna unfolds.

Bubbling, I’m excited with truth untold.

G-d keeps pouring as I’m willing to learn.

My cup overflows; m...

HaShem Machsi - God is My Refuge - Tehillim 91

Posted by Yona on Friday, November 16, 2012, In : Poetry ... Prose

The following poem is based off of Psalms 91. It is an Acrostic of 22 letters of the English alphabet. Notes follow the poem below.

Abiding in the shadow of Shaddai,

Behold he who sits with the Most High;

Concern nor fear are his with Ad-nai.

Declaring from youth, learned and fully wise,

“Elohai, in Him will I trust. He is my refuge.”

From snares and pestilences, He will protect you.

Great numbers may fall at your side, but no plague will come near you.

His feathers will co...

Ruach

Posted by Yona on Sunday, July 22, 2012, In : Poetry ... Prose

You cannot see me,
but you know me intimately.
You feel me like the wind.
You breathe me as life giving air.
From where I come and where I go,
you do not know,
but I am everywhere.

I am the Ruach.

I can be a whisper,
a gentle nudge,
a comfort, and a healing balm.
I can minister to your needs:
instruction in righteousness,
conviction that leads to growth,
and direction on your path.

I am the Ruach.

I bring remembrance of the Word,
give knowledge you did not know.
I utter words upo...

In the Valley

Posted by Yona on Saturday, July 21, 2012, In : Poetry ... Prose

There are those times when Believers find themselves at a low point in their lives. Many will say of themselves that they are in a valley. It can be for various reasons: loss, grief, illness, broken relationships, isolation, sin, depression or disappointment, just to name a few.

Whatever the reason, these seasons can feel very alone and sometimes inescapable, but the L-rd wants us to know otherwise. He is our hope. He is faithful even when we are barely hanging on to hope or have lost hope.
If...

Rise Redeemed

Posted by Yona on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, In : Poetry ... Prose

Sandy sermons
Exiting ears
Pious pews
Regular rears

Strutting saved
Obstinate ornate
Miscarried message
Affects abate

Worldly witness
Conforming child
Floundering fences
Believer beguiled

Compromised corners
Wavering words
Pleasing people
Shapeless  swords

Entertaining error
Father frowns
Inviting iniquity
Ambiguity abounds

Feasting foe
Cunning chaffs
Wrestling wheat
Lucifer laughs

Rise redeemed
Assert authority
Stand strong
Prize priority

United unshaken
Foundation firm
Sharpened swords
Calling confirmed

Resist rebellion...

He is Faithful

Posted by Yona on Thursday, June 7, 2012, In : Poetry ... Prose

Faith is
~trusting without seeing~
~hanging on with odds a million to one~
~believing like a child that anything can happen~
~knowing G-d can do what is impossible to man~
~having the courage to stand your ground~
~facing Goliath with a sling and a stone~
~transforming a death sentence into a license to live~
~understanding our biggest fan has all the power and provision~
~knowing obedience to G-d towers any earthly reward~
~trusting when we are weak, G-d steps in strong~
~releasing control...

The Wind

Posted by Yona on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, In : Poetry ... Prose

As I sit outside on my swing, the L-RD comes to meet me. I hear His voice in the wind. The rustling starts out soft and builds to a huge swoosh overhead. I look up and see the leaves dance on the tree branches. The cooled air moves through the hairs on my skin. The L-RD speaks as He encircles me with His presence:

No object in nature goes untouched. When I come over you, there is no part of your life that I do not know, touch, and fill with my best desires for you. You are covered.

Peace ...

When the L-RD Speaks

Posted by Yona on Monday, August 22, 2011, In : Poetry ... Prose

In the quiet, the L-RD speaks. He whispers His truth to our open ears. We filter His words through our present life and our emotions. Yet, distractions can cause us to half listen. Our hearing depends on our attentiveness, our willingness to clear our mind. We can see His Word for what it is and accept it wholly and completely. His Spirit is our direction and calls us into a righteous walk without fail. His presence is constant, His teaching is wise. He brings peace and rest to our souls. O...

Rebbetzin Yona

If I boast about anything, it will be about my Abba, the Creator of the Universe, the Creator of me, the One and Only true G-d.

The L-rd drew me unto Himself as a young girl. My introduction to the L-rd, prayer, and His Scriptures was through the women in my family.

He filled me with His Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) at the age of fifteen and has walked with me, teaching me ever since.

His ministry in me has been to use the many gifts He has freely given in order to testify of Him.

His gifts have been plenty, from equipment to do the task at hand to experiences of trials and joys. All that He gives is a gift, treasures of learning, growing, and drawing close to Him.

For me, the greatest of these gifts is to know Him intimately. Without Him, I am powerless against my enemies and fruitless for His kingdom. I am nothing apart from Him.

Through my acceptance of Messiah Yeshua's atonement, I received salvation, cleansing of my sins and a place in His Kingdom.

It is because of the Almighty's Chesed, mercy and loving kindness, to me that I am able to testify of Him, share the good news, and pour out His Chesed into my neighbor.

And so I boast about Him, because it IS all about my Abba and the salvation given through His Son.
